Steel Blasting of a Roof Tank in India

Blastrac India recently carried out a project within an existing 79 meters in diameter tank at Indian Oil Corporation Limited in State Odisha, India.

The objective was to remove the old coatings and rust from the roof tank and create a SA 2.5 pattern prior to apply a new coating. The profile to be reached was about 60-80 micron.

In order to achieve this, the Blastrac 500E horizontal steel blaster was used in combination with a BDC-99 dust collector. The machine easily achieved an SA 2.5 pattern and removed all oil, grease, dirt, rust, paint or other foreign matters from the surface, by closed circuit abrasive blasting. Below you can see a picture showing the difference between the original surface and the blasted surface.

The blasting process is environmentally and operator friendly. There is no dust exposure, it is a recyclable process and there is no use of chemicals or drinking water.

The Indian Oil Corporation Limited approved the Blastrac technology, our customer could continue the blasting process succesfully, together we achieved that the Blastrac technology will be specified for the maintenance contracts.

Blastrac is proud to announce that Anil and his team succeeded in selling this equipment to a blasting & painting company in India.
