Blastrac have recently demonstrated the functionality of the new BMS-150E floor stripper in Rotterdam’s Blaak Five55 skyscraper, which is a 30 floor tower. Due to its weight, the elevator was not able to handle the load of the bigger BMS-220ADB. Therefore, Blastrac went to the job with its brand new BMS-150E floor stripper, a smaller and lighter machine that can easily fit into an elevator. Its ability to be moved without power was a big benefit for moving the machine in and out of the elevator.
The objective was to remove hundreds of square meters of textile carpets. The high quality carpet had a tough underlay and a high density top layer. The best way to remove it was to make cuts with the 152 & 355 mm self-scoring blades and then to remove the rest with a 355 mm heavy duty blade. Due to the quick release tool holder which is equipped as standard, changing the blades is quick and easy to do. The 1 mm PU coating was removed with the 355 mm self-scoring blade.
Because the BMS-150E also removed the glue in the same pass as it removed the carpet, no grinding was necessary afterwards. Saving the customer valuable time.
To ensure that the area remained free from, dust a Blastrac dust collector was connected to the BMS-150E to allow for a user friendly working environment. In addition, LED lights on the front and back of the machine helped the operators to have a good view of the procedures within the building which had limited lighting. The machine is very ergonomical enabling the user to comfortably work all day. The fact that the BMS-150E is silent because it is completely electrical makes it a joy to work with.
